Venezia DOC, a denomination of controlled origin, takes its name from the city of Venice. This was the centre of the world market for wine, which was traded all over the world.
Produced at the Le Ronche estate, located in Fossalta di Piave. "Le Ronche" is the name of the place where this vineyard is located, about 10 kilometres from the Adriatic Sea and 50 kilometres from the Dolomite Alps.
The soil is alluvial, consisting of caranto, a mixture of white clay and minerals of the Dolomite Alps.
The climate is mild, with very little rain and high summer temperatures, allowing the grapes to ripen in the best conditions.
To achieve perfect ripening of the grapes, summer pruning and careful leaf thinning are carried out in addition to the usual vineyard maintenance. In addition, the harvest is kept very low to produce grapes with rich body and flavour.
Harvesting - late September - early October, pick very ripe berries, with deep colour and full aromatic structure.
Stalk removal and crushing of the grapes, maceration and fermentation at controlled temperature with frequent pumping over. After this time, the wine is taken out and fermentation is completed in stainless steel vats. The wine matures for about 12 months on noble lees in oak barriques.
Intense ruby colour, bouquet of ripe red fruit, full body, smoothness, just the right level of tannins and notes of wild fruit.
Structure and complexity allow the wine to improve during maturation in bottle, which can last up to 15 years, reaching its peak 10 years after harvest.
