The vines are between 80 and 110 years old, which makes them unique. The vines grow at an altitude of 450 metres above sea level, on calcareous, clay and gravel soils. The location and exposure of the slope provide optimal protection from sunlight, resulting in a full-bodied wine with great ageing potential.
Grapes are harvested by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excessive pressure on the grapes. Stem separation and slow fermentation of the must (15-20 days) in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation and aging for 9 months in large oak barrels and 6 months in bottles.
This Vernatsch is unique. Elegant and full bodied with fruity tannins accompanied by a marvellous aroma. A wine with exceptional ageing potential.
