Goruli Mtsvane is an endemic variety of the Kartli region of Georgia. The name means “green from Gori”, a city located in Kartli. Not to be confused with Mtsvane from Kakheti, this is a completely different variety! Goga Tevzadze, a winemaker from Tevza, sets himself the task of researching, preserving and promoting local varieties of Kartli wine, but in his own way.
The grapes are harvested by hand at the optimum degree of maturity and carefully transported from 14-year-old vineyards (distance 40 km) to the Tevza winery and directly crushed into qvevri. Wild fermentation starts at room temperature. Spontaneous fermentation stops when the wine becomes dry, followed by natural MLF fermentation. After analyzing and tasting the wine, we fill each individual qvevri from reserved batches of the same wines. Maceration and skin contact for 5 months.
Aromas of dried fruit and melon, balancing notes of honey and honeysuckle. A very well defined, rich and harmonious body with a firm and tannic structure, dried apricots richly combined with notes of ripe dried orange.
