Description

Vigna Sant'Anna is the greatest vineyard of viticulture: one hectare of Nebbiolo planted in the sixties by Giovanni Porello's grandfather. Throughout the winery's history, the winemakers have kept it as it was: steep, with narrow gaps between the rows. Everything is done entirely by hand, even the grass is cut by hand, and the winery has chosen to care for the vineyard and make wines the way Giovanni's grandfather did. The vineyards are located on a hill 350 metres above sea level, on sandy-lime soil typical of the south-facing Roero region. Grape yields are very low. About 3.0 tonnes can be harvested, which corresponds to about 4,000 bottles.
Age of the vineyard: 66 years.
The grapes are harvested by hand into 20kg crates in early October.
Fermentation with a very long maceration on the rind (40 days), with a submerged lid and no yeast added.
Aging: 24 months in 30 hectolitre wooden barrels. The wine is not filtered before bottling.
Ruby red with garnet highlights that change with age; intense, ethereal aromas of ripe fruit with notes of rose and blackberry, enriched with vanilla, cocoa and spices; elegant, delicate, fruity and mineral, with fresh tannins that predict excellent longevity.

Fermentation

Stainless steel / French oak barrel
