The word "creda" is a local dialect word and means clay. These Refosco dal peduncolo rosso vines grow on clay soil, which gives the wine a strong body and firm personality.
Produced at the Le Ronche estate located in Fossalta di Piave. "Le Ronche" is the name of the place where this Refosco vineyard is located about 10 kilometres from the Adriatic Sea and 50 kilometres from the Dolomite Alps.
The soil is alluvial, consisting of caranto, a mixture of white clay and minerals of the Dolomite Alps.
The climate is mild, with very little rain and high summer temperatures, which allows the grapes to ripen in the best conditions. There is also a large temperature change between day and night, which maintains the acidity and flavour of the grapes.
To achieve perfect ripening of the grapes, summer pruning and careful thinning of the leaves are carried out in addition to the usual vineyard maintenance. The harvest is also kept very low to produce grapes with rich flavour and aroma.
Harvest is mid to late September, with extreme ripening of the grapes, allowing them to reach their peak depth of colour, complete their aromatic structure and smooth out their tannins. Carefully selected grapes are dried.
Removal of the ridges and crushing of the berries, long maceration in special fermentation tanks at a controlled temperature with frequent pumping. The wine is then transferred to stainless steel vats where alcoholic fermentation is completed. The wine is then aged for 24 months in barriques.
Deep ruby colour, intense aromas of ripe fruit, prune, violets with rare elegance; full body, very important structure, layers of velvety tannins and a wide range of tertiary aromas.
Its structure and complexity allow the wine to improve during maturation in bottle, which can last up to 25 years, reaching its peak 15 years after harvest.
