Georgian natural wine. Chitistvala was the very first wine ever created by Kasreli. It was created from a very rare Georgian grape variety, also called Chitistvala. Then, in 2016, Kasreli was the only one to produce and bottle wine from this variety: "Chitistvala Tetri" 60%, "Kisi" 20%, "Rkatsiteli" 20%.
The word "Chitistvala" means "bird's eye" in English. It is not surprising that Georgians gave this name to the grape, which has very small berries with thick skins and rich concentrated juice.
Chitistvala was also the winery's very first wine, which won a gold medal at the 2017 Kvevri International Wine Competition. This victory made the winemaker think that winemaking should not only be a hobby, but also a business.
Chitistvala is thus a very important product for the Casreli winery.
The wine was fermented and aged in kvevri vessels with an 8-month maceration of skins and stems. The grapes are grown in Kakheti, on the right bank of the Alazani River, Vachnadziani village, Shaloant Akhoebi - a specific terroir, located at an altitude of 450 metres above sea level, in a dry, hot climate, on stony/siliceous soil. The wine is unfiltered.
