The label, inspired by the figure of Harlequin, features a mask, a tear streaming down his face, and tomato stains on his costume.
The grapes are picked by hand, bunch by bunch, personally selected by the winemaker; they are placed on drying trays for between 0 and 40 days, depending on the condition of the crop, indoors under natural conditions, without machines, forced ventilation or dehumidifiers.
Whole bunches are crushed without removing the stalks and the grapes are fermented in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts for about 30 days, followed by pumping, de-stemming and, above all, under the supervision of the winemaker. After draining, the wine is allowed to stand by gravity for about 10 days. This is followed by a double maturation process, 30 months in total, using new 225-litre French oak barrels (200%) without racking. The unfiltered wine is bottled and aged in bottle for a minimum of 2 years. Harlequin is only produced in the best years.
Appearance: shiny, dense ruby red colour, turning garnet with age.
Bouquet: a generous, voluminous blend of alternating fruit, floral and mineral notes, with a clean finish.
Flavour: an impression of overarching richness and complexity. Fruit, spices and higher alcohols alternate with fruity marmalade, followed by pipe tobacco, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove, combining with minerality to emphasise the great depth of this wine. It finishes with a long and appealing note of sweetness. More definition of detail distinguishes Harlequi from its younger sibling Kairos.
